Skip Wobus is running for Bastrop County Sheriff on the Democratic ticket. He has 23 years in law enforcement and 20 years in the Bastrop County Sheriffs office. Skip aims to keep pace with Bastrop’s rapid growth and proliferating subdivisions with expensive housing. On Saturday, Feb. 16th Rose Carter will be throwing a “meet and greet” campaign party for Skip at 1325 Hwy 304.

Skip discusses growth, manpower changes, burglary and theft, and terrorism issues in this wide ranging interview.

Interview with Democrat Sheriff candidate Wayne Smith

Wayne Smith, running on the Democratic ticket for Bastrop County Sheriff, talks to Bastrop Builder about the issues facing Bastrop County in crime and law enforcement. Wayne is a Viet Nam vet with a strong business background. He worked as a Special Agent for the US Embassy in Thailand and served locally as a Justice of the Peace.

Wayne would increase drug enforcement in Bastrop County, would improve morale in the Sheriffs Department, and promote better rapport between the public and the Sheriffs Department.
