Comment on A comment: Bastrop area water issues typify Texas conflicts by JackTheBearBastrop

I for one, am working on a residential rain water system for my residence. Why? Because there is little doubt in my mind local elected misfits won’t lift a finger to protect Bastrop County Taxpayers from an onslaught of so called developers. State,City and County officials have fallen over themselves in an effort to lure more urban sprawl to this once pristine area. Multi million dollar tax incentives and abatements have been doled out to Fortune 500 Companies without regard to the actual need for them. The counties residents are left to pick up the tab for this folly, while the developers and elected weasels dance arm and arm to the bank. Given Bastrop’s history of corrupt elected official hijinks, it wouldn’t surprise me if there is a financial incentive waiting for each from the carpetbaggers.
Since local residents have no voice or representation in this county, what is left? Put out your rain barrels folks because if this organized crime family of slime has their way, the W/C Aquifer will be sucked dry!
Perhaps there is a silver lining in all off this. If Bastrop runs out of water due to greed, then people will move where the water is and Bastrop will dry up and blow away. That will be justice for those who stood idly by and allowed the county to be destroyed. There will be losers and winners when that day comes and it won’t be elected officials OR their developer partners in crime.
